Report: Newcastle staff are now accepting that 26-year-old player has outgrown the club

A big summer lies ahead for Newcastle United.

With this year having been something of a reality check for Newcastle after reaching the Champions League and a domestic cup final last time out, a big rebuild has been predicted at St James’ Park.

Still, it remains unclear as to whether or not the financial limitations the club are working under in terms of FFP make that a realistic possibility.

It is, however, clear that players will need to be sold to raise the funds required for further investment from PIF.

The likes of Miguel Almiron have been tipped to leave but it’s difficult to ignore the prospect of a key name potentially being sold.

It, thankfully, seemingly won’t be Alexander Isak. Indeed, Eddie Howe is believed to want to build his team around the 24-year-old, who has recently claimed he is happy at Newcastle.

With Sven Botman out for a significant period due to a second serious knee injury of the season, that would seemingly rule him out too.

Sadly, that brings us to Bruno Guimaraes.

Newcastle accept Bruno Guimaraes might have outgrown the club

The Brazilian has consistently been linked with a move to some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Now, more insight has emerged.

According to The Athletic, there is an acceptance – albeit a begrudging one – behind the scenes that the midfielder’s progress has outpaced Newcastle’s.

Newcastle will almost certainly not be playing Champions League football next season and with the 26-year-old constantly linked with moves to clubs of that level, it would not be a huge surprise to see him tempted by such offers.

Furthermore, the report again confirms the presence of a £100m release clause in his contract and adds that a parting of the ways may be reluctantly agreed in order to fund Newcastle’s own rebuild.

Bruno Guimaraes next club could already be decided

Earlier this week, it was claimed that French giants Paris Saint-Germain were confident about signing the 26-year-old.

While it’s difficult to put a positive spin on the idea of Guimaraes leaving, at least Newcastle wouldn’t have to watch him strut his stuff for a rival Premier League club were PSG to land him…
