Ben White is now only behind 2 Invincibles in remarkable Arsenal stat after Brighton win

Arsenal’s victory over Brighton on Saturday was satisfying for several reasons, as the Gunners returned to the top of the table in style.

Goals from Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard secured the victory, with Mikel Arteta’s side keeping yet another clean sheet.

Gabriel Magalhaes caught the eye, and earned celebrations from his teammates after making an impressive block in the final few minutes of the game.

Ben White also put in a strong display on his return to the Amex Stadium, and the win came on the Englishman’s 100th Premier League for the club since joining in 2021.

Ben White falls just behind Sol Campbell and Lauren in Arsenal stat

Sky Sports have now highlighted how White has won 66 of his first 100 Premier League games with Arsenal.

This is the third-highest total of any player in Arsenal’s Premier League history, and Invincibles pair Sol Campbell and Lauren are the only stars who fared even better in this regard.

The two defenders won 68 of their first 100 Premier League games for Arsenal, and both went on to become legends.

Campbell and Lauren were crucial cogs in Arsenal’s last title-winning side, the Invincibles, who lifted the trophy in 2004.

Eyebrows were raised when Mikel Arteta chose to bring White in from Brighton for around £50m, but his impact in several positions and roles has justified his fee.

He joined a dysfunctional defence and team, but quickly settled as a centre-back in the side which would eventually finish fifth.

White then moved to right-back, where he has excelled, with William Saliba coming into the team, and Arsenal now have the best defence in the Premier League.

The fact he is near Lauren and Campbell for wins is even more impressive given the team he joined, compared to Saliba, who may likely go ahead and break this record.

White’s impact in two different positions for Arsenal has been phenomenal, and he is arguably one of Arteta’s best signings despite the significant transfer fee.
