Journalist close to Moyes makes fresh claim about decision on his future

A journalist who counts David Moyes among his close contacts has made a fresh claim about the decision on his future.

There remain big question marks hanging over the future of David Moyes at West Ham.

As things stand the manager’s future with the Hammers is very much in doubt beyond this summer.

Particularly since Moyes himself spoke out publicly to insist it is he who is stalling on signing a new West Ham contract.

Hammers News spoke to a top contact close to the owners recently about Moyes’ future.

And the senior source made their position very clear.

“The managerial situation will be resolved at the end of the season,” the source said.

“We have tough fixtures coming up in both league and cup, but they will decide our season.”

West Ham fanbase divided over Moyes

The Hammers continue to be linked with a host of managers as potential replacements for the Scot.

There are two distinct camps within the West Ham fanbase of ‘Moyes in’ and ‘Moyes out’.

The former believe he deserves a new long-term deal to continue the job he has done at the London Stadium. But the latter want a more modern, progressive manager with an attacking philosophy.

Now it seems the strength of opinion among that faction will be key to whether Moyes stays or goes.

Criticism has Moyes thinking about leaving claims journalist

Scottish journalist Alan Nixon says Moyes is watching fan opinion and reaction to him very closely before making his big decision on the West Ham contract awaiting him.

Nixon reveals Moyes has been angered by some of the reaction. And it could see him decide to leave.

“David Moyes’s decision on his West Ham future will come down to love and not money,” Sun journalist Nixon writes on his Patreon.

“Moyes has a contract in front of him to sign and there are no problems with the terms or length of the deal.

“However the experienced Scot is yet to commit as he watches the fan reaction to him in the last couple of months of the season…

“Moyes is studying the response to him over the rest of the campaign before putting pen to paper.”

Outstaying his welcome or welcome to stay?

Journalist Graeme Bailey recently told Hammers News there is only one way Moyes will remain as Hammers boss next season.

Gary Neville believes Moyes has done a superb job.

But he says the Hammers should not undersell themselves and will be able to attract a top boss if Moyes does depart.

This week a source close to the club’s owners responded to new reports linking Thomas Tuchel with West Ham this summer.
