Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has reacted to Villa’s 3-3 draw with Brentford, seeing Morgan Rogers reply to the striker’s meaningful message.
Unai Emery watched on as Aston Villa threw away a 2-0 lead over Brentford at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.
After playing a depleted squad against Manchester City in midweek, it was assumed that the Villans wouldn’t hold back on trying to secure a win against the Bees.
When Morgan Rogers netted Villa’s second goal in the 46th minute, it looked as though the hosts had all but taken the game away from Brentford as the Englishman added to Ollie Watkins’ first-half opener.
Just five minutes after Rogers’ first goal for Villa, the Bees turned the game on its head, scoring three goals in nine minutes to see Emery’s side suddenly trail at home.
Luckily, Villa’s talisman got them out of the mud once more, as Watkins scored his 18th goal of the Premier League season, expressing his thoughts on the game on social media today.

After the game, Watkins was very vocal about his dissatisfaction over the result that saw his team lose control of a game that they had all but won.
Today, the Villa talisman penned a meaningful Instagram post aimed at the club’s supporters, captioning the photos:
“Disappointing not to take all 3 points yesterday. Big game in Europe on Thursday night at Villa Park, time to bounce back.”
Having netted his 18th goal of the Premier League season, the forward is just two goals away from becoming the first-ever Villan to reach the 20-goal milestone.
Watkins’ brace was appreciated by many, including his teammate Rogers, who commented on the Instagram post, “My striker”.

Having recorded just two wins from their previous six Premier League games, Villa will be eager to bounce back in the competition in order to remain in the race for fourth.
For now, Emery’s attention will be firmly on Thursday night’s task, as LOSC Lille arrive at Villa Park in the Europa Conference League quarter-final first leg.
As highlighted in Watkins’ Instagram post, the Villans must look to bounce back on Thursday, in what will be a critical game for Villa’s hopes of European silverware.
Aside from Watkins’ goals and Villa’s successes this season, it is alarming that the Midlands club have hit a purple patch of form so close to the end of the season, with Spurs breathing down the neck of Emery.
A strong result on Thursday night would be the ideal response to the frustrating 3-3 draw with Brentford, with only a handful of games left of the 2023/24 campaign.
