Ian Wright blasts Nicolo Zaniolo

It was a bad night at the office on Wednesday. Away in Manchester, Unai Emery’s team were humbled 4-1 by Man City despite a good start to the match.

Villa were well within the game up until the cusp of half-time when Phil Foden found the net from a free-kick.

After the goal, it appeared that Zaniolo may have been blaming Ezri Konsa for conceding which Wright was less than happy about.

Potential record at Villa Park

Saturday’s game is a big match for Villa for many reasons. As Champions League qualification nears, the club needs to ensure it bounces back quickly after their defeat to City.

Villa Park has been a major part of the club’s success throughout Emery’s reign and it oversaw a record number of wins in late 2023.

Now, it appears that another record could soon be broken. If the club scores just one goal past Brentford, it would be the most goals they have scored at Villa Park for 40 years.

Referees are often hit-and-miss. The saying that the decisions often balance out at the end of the season never seems to be true for Villa fans.

However, there may be some hope left. Ahead of Brentford, it has been confirmed that Michael Salisbury will be the referee.

So far this season, Villa have not lost when he has been in charge, winning three and drawing one.
