Chris Sutton's instant reaction to Celtic draw and Fabio Silva "diving"

Celtic drew 3-3 with Rangers in a chaotic match at Ibrox that produced its fair share of controversy and drama.

The Bhoys took a two-goal lead courtesy of Daizen Maeda and a penalty from Matt O’Riley before James Tavernier netted a spot-kick of his own that was controversially awarded, followed by a deflected Abdallah Sima strike to level.

Incredibly, Adam Idah went straight up the other end of the pitch to fire Celtic in front once again, showing great composure to slot past Jack Butland.

Rabbi Matondo denied Brendan Rodgers’ men the three points in stoppage time, producing a day of mixed emotions for the Irishman and the wider support.

All things considered, recording a draw in Glasgow’s southside has kept Celtic in a commanding position regarding the title race; however, given the way events panned out, it is natural to feel a sense of frustration.

Next up, St Mirren visit Parkhead this coming Saturday in our final fixture before the split matches are announced.

Chris Sutton reacts to Celtic’s topsy-turvy draw at Ibrox

Like most supporters, Chris Sutton is probably still trying to catch his breath following an end-to-end affair that has left neither side worse off than when they started the day.

Taking to social media platform X, the former England international gave his immediate reaction to events at Ibrox, signalling his belief that Celtic should’ve been ‘out of sight’ and voicing his displeasure with John Beaton’s decision to give a penalty after initially booking Fabio Silva for a dive.

Sutton also described Idah’s goal as ‘sensational’, giving the loanee some high praise as he continues to establish himself as a man for the big occasion.

On a day of contrasting emotions, Celtic didn’t lose ground in the title race and will fancy their chances at Parkhead against a Rangers side that are still yet to topple them this season in three attempts.

Either way, the post-mortem of how Rodgers’ men lost momentum in the second-half will also command attention over the next few days before we turn our focus to St Mirren at home.
