'I'm so disappointed': Jason Cundy shocked at what 24-year-old Chelsea player had to do vs Sheffield United

Chelsea had another game to forget this evening after their 2-2 draw with Sheffield United.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s men looked like they were going to win the match after a brilliant strike from Noni Madueke put them 2-1 up.

However, Oli McBurnie scored at the death to level things and ensure that the points were shared.

In the end, it was a very disappointing performance from Chelsea, especially in the first half.

At one point, former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy could not believe what one player from his old side was reduced to doing.

Chelsea star drops back during Sheffield United draw

While Chelsea were able to take the lead after Thiago Silva scored from a corner, again, they were extremely poor in the first 45 minutes.

Conor Gallagher, who strangely started on the left today, was dropping back to left-back to pick up the ball, something that stunned Cundy.

While on commentary duty for Chelsea’s official website (07/04/2024 at 18:24), he said: “Conor Gallagher’s having to drop back at left-back sometimes to pick up the ball. I’m so disappointed with what I’m watching with us.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s Conor Gallagher experiment

Most Chelsea fans must be starting to get sick with all of the experimenting that Mauricio Pochettino is doing.

Before his injury, it had been Colwill at left-back, for example, and today supporters saw a central midfielder playing on the flank.

For someone who is under pressure, with his side still not in the European spots, Pochettino really doesn’t help himself at times.

Going forward, Gallagher starting on the left is not something Chelsea fans will want to see.

The 24-year-old was recently hailed as a “great footballer” by Gary Cahill, but he is not going to get to show that playing on the wing.
