Chelsea fans are saying the same thing about Cole Palmer after Sheffield United draw

Chelsea conceded late on this evening in a very disappointing 2-2 draw away to Sheffield United.

The Blues went into Sunday’s match at Bramall Lane buoyed by the dramatic win over Manchester United in midweek, but yet again they failed to record back-to-back victories in the Premier League.

Thiago Silva actually put visitors Chelsea in front in the 11th minute, but Sheffield United were level at 1-1 through Jayden Bogle in the first-half.

Noni Madueke restored the Blues lead halfway through the second period. However, Oli McBurnie scored an injury-time equaliser for a Sheffield United side bottom of the league table staring relegation in the face.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side may have beat Man United a few days ago, but they’ve drawn against 20th-placed Sheffield United and 19th-placed Burnley in this recant run of matches as well.

One step forward, two steps back

The result and performance today perfectly summarises what Chelsea’s season has been like.

It feels like whenever they threaten to find consistency they crumble.

Chelsea don’t play again until Monday 15 April at home to Everton. Which version of us will turn up then?

It’s now seven straight games that the Blues have conceded at least two goals against them, which simply isn’t sustainable to win regularly.

Chelsea fans discuss Cole Palmer

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media all made the same point about Cole Palmer following his display versus Sheffield United.

The in-form attacker has been thriving as a right-winger this campaign, but he operated centrally as a No 10 today. It’s something that the fanbase certainly didn’t like as much.

He assisted Madueke’s goal before being substituted off in the 74th minute. It wasn’t his most dazzling performance in Chelsea colours, but he made a goal contribution in typical fashion.

Here are some Chelsea fans on X insisting that Palmer must be used by the manager in a central role.

One fan said: “Palmer has to go back on the right and against a low block we need an actual 10 so Gallagher has to go off for me.”

Another wrote: “Palmer struggling in #10, move him back to RW (right-winger) in the second.”

A third claimed: “Palmer in this game btw… FIFA needs to change that CAM to RW once and for all.”

Another posted: “Palmer needs to be RW (right-winger) to get the best out of him. Nothing against Noni.”

A fifth supporter shared: “Play Palmer in his natural position RW where he thrives.”

One fan said: “Palmer been the best playing in the league playing off the right, so Poch plays him through the centre, ok.”
