'Incredible': Alan Shearer loved what Kobbie Mainoo did straight after he scored vs Liverpool yesterday

Alan Shearer has now been sharing his praise for Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo after his spectacular strike against Liverpool yesterday.

Mainoo perhaps didn’t enjoy his most authoritative display until he scored his goal, but chose an excellent time to deliver the best strike in his career to date.

It always felt as if Liverpool were leaving the door slightly open for United when missing several chances throughout the game.

But as we saw with Bruno Fernandes’ effort as well, it was still going to take something special to change the trajectory of the game.

And along with his captain, Kobbie Mainoo definitely delivered a strike that just gets better every time you watch it.

Mainoo has already demonstrated his rich ability on the ball, but goalscoring of that echelon was definitely a welcome surprise.

That being said, it was what Mainoo did shortly after scoring his goal for United that really impressed Alan Shearer.

The pundit was speaking on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast today and thought the way in which Mainoo celebrated his goal was extremely telling.

Speaking on the podcast, Shearer loved how composed Mainoo still looked after scoring, a player who doesn’t seem to be phased by anything.

He explained: “Do you know what I loved, when he scored I loved his celebration.

“It was like look at me, look how cool I am. The whole world was looking at him, but you would never know because he takes everything in his stride because he’s just so good.

“What a talent, incredible.”

Of course, Erik ten Hag does still have a long way to go in terms of constructing a midfield that can regularly get the best out of Mainoo and help him fulfil his potential.

Again against Liverpool the balance wasn’t right in the middle and Ten Hag’s side were completely overwhelmed at times.

Manchester United fans will be the first to point out that their side can’t keep relying on individual moments of brilliance to win points, a better plan needs to be in place.

And whilst Shearer has been enjoying what Mainoo has already accomplished at Man United, he would surely love to see him thriving in a better rounded trio.

All that being said, Gary Neville was really disappointed with two different Man United players yesterday.
