'Absolutely fantastic': Sky pundit says £300k-a-week Man City star was simply 'class' in Crystal Palace win

Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie believes one Manchester City player is looking ‘back’ to his best, following the club’s win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.

City beat the Eagles 4-2 at Selhurst Park, with Kevin De Bruyne shining with two goals.

Rico Lewis and Erling Haaland were also on target, as Pep Guardiola‘s side continued their fine form in 2024.

It was important to win and put the pressure on Arsenal, who responded later in the day by beating Brighton, and Liverpool, who could only take a point against Manchester United on Sunday.

The title race is extremely tight, and all City can do is just keep going and winning games.

Many players are in really good form at the moment for City, and Lee Hendrie believes that Jack Grealish is now looking back to his best after the game with Palace…

Grealish was handed another start against Palace, after featuring in midweek against his former club Aston Villa.

Grealish did well in the 4-1 win against Villa, with Ally McCoist insisting on commentary it had been a ‘good evening’ for him.

He continued his good form against Palace, and gave Joel Ward and Daniel Munoz a very tough afternoon down the City left side.

£300,000-a-week star Grealish was more unpredictable than usual, going on the outside more often as well as cutting in as he usually likes to do.

His performance drew praise on Match of the Day from Dion Dublin, who felt he was ‘outstanding’. On Sunday, another former Villa player turned pundit Lee Hendrie hailed Grealish for his latest display.

He said on Sky Sports News: “Back to being Jack again, isn’t he? Looks sharp, looks ready to be available for the Euros. I thought he was class yesterday. Really stepped up to it.

“It was one of those games that you felt was always going to be tough. But he was absolutely fantastic I thought, everything he did going forwards was productive.”

Grealish form is encouraging

The last two games from Grealish have been really encouraging, and he does look to be showing a similar level to what he did last season when he was so important for City.

It has been a tough campaign for City’s number 10, with his injury problems, and the player has been open about his struggles.

But there’s a lot of football still to play and Grealish stands to make a big impact for City. It’s the business end of the season, and last time around he was so good.

We know Pep really appreciates what he brings to the table in terms of control, and he is going to feature plenty, provided he can stay fit.
