'He's an amazing player': Dan Burn tells Newcastle they simply can't sell 26-year-old this summer

Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has now admitted that the club simply can’t afford to sell one player this summer.

Eddie Howe’s team are now enjoying a fairly significant up-turn in form, even if the draw against Everton may still be a source of frustration.

But with seven points from three games, Newcastle have massively strengthened their chances of remaining in European football next season.

A spot in the Champions League may be a stretch, even if Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are faltering, but there’s every reason to believe that Howe’s side can finish sixth, ahead of Manchester United and West Ham.

Of course, Newcastle will need the likes of Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes to continue their excellent form to do so.

Without Sven Botman available, the trio are probably the club’s most prized assets.

And that is also significant when remembering the possibility that Newcastle might have to sell a player to help with their adherence to Profit and Sustainability rules this summer.

Dan Burn says Newcastle can’t sell Bruno Guimaraes if they want to progress

That being said, Dan Burn has now claimed that a Bruno Guimaraes Newcastle departure should be avoided at all costs.

Speaking via The Athletic, Burn was lauding Bruno after his winning goal against Fulham and said he needs to stick around if the club want to progress.

He explained: “Everyone waxes lyrical about Bruno because he’s an amazing player.

“If we want to kick on as a club, then we need to keep hold of our best players.”

Of course, the Newcastle faithful will definitely echo those sentiments following the Brazilian reaching 100 games for the club.

And in the same article, Bruno’s importance to Howe’s project was laid bare for all to see.

Since Bruno made his debut, Newcastle have won 55.7% of the 79 league games he’s played, in comparison to a 0% win rate in the seven he’s missed.

The 26-year-old has a talismanic quality, and whilst Newcaslte fans don’t want any of the players named above to be sold, Bruno may be considered most ‘off limits’.

All that being said, Jeff Stelling did recently claim that Newcastle could sell a different player entirely once the season ends.
