Kevin Campbell shares whether he thinks Everton should be appealing after second points deduction today

Everton’s miserable season continues with this latest round of PSR news, which has detailed a fresh setback for Sean Dyche to overcome.

Having first battled through their ten-point deduction, it was hoped that they might be able to cruise to safety after a solid run of form and a four-point remuneration pushed them up the table.

However, it then became apparent that the Premier League were not yet finished with the Toffees, and had plans to come back for more as they charged both them and Nottingham Forest with further breaches.

And whilst a two-point deduction certainly could have been worse, it once again comes at a terrible time, sinking them from 15th and four points clear of the bottom three to 16th and just two points away from both the Tricky Trees and Luton Town.

Kevin Campbell is one of many to now voice their concerns over this ruling.

Kevin Campbell on Everton’s fresh deduction

Speaking live on Sky Sports News earlier today, the former Everton and Arsenal striker was left understandably incensed by the landmark decision, as the Toffees became the first club to ever be handed two points deductions in a single season.

He was frustrated, and lobbied for his former employers to make one bold move immediately in order to combat such behaviour from the Premier League.

The 54-year-old noted: ‘Two points isn’t the end of the world but they are going to have to appeal it because that win against Burnley at the weekend is effectively a draw now.

‘There have to be questions. 10 points to six, fair enough Everton took it. But another two? As a player, you feel targeted and you’re not going to be happy and it feels like your club is being victimised.’

Kevin Campbell is not the only one baffled

Whilst many might accuse this Everton hero of being somewhat biased towards his old club, it is worth noting that he is not alone in this confusion.

After all, Yannick Bolasie is another who has voiced his displeasure over the ruling, whilst one Sky Sports reporter has recently made a statement he knew would leave Evertonians further frustrated.

There has been widespread backlash, though not quite as vociferous as for the initial ten-point deduction.

However, that is merely because it has not initially plunged them into the relegation zone.

The only hope is that the Toffees can muster up the same kind of spirit which saw them render the last deduction pointless, and enjoy another winning run against some of their relegation rivals.
