Marcus Rashford sends four-word injury update to Manchester United fan

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford returned to the Manchester United starting line-up at the weekend against Liverpool.

He had been on the bench against Chelsea, appearing as a late substitute. It was unclear if this was simply a choice through rotation, or connected to an injury he was claimed to be carrying.

Marcus Rashford did start against Liverpool, but was forced off midway through the second half, appearing to pick up a knock.

He now has a week to rest up until Manchester United’s next game, away at Bournemouth, before the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley against Coventry City.

Marcus Rashford injury update

Marcus Rashford has issued an encouraging injury update, in a reply to a Manchester United fan on social media.

Rashford sent out a message after the game expressing mixed emotions, frustrated with the result, but also pleased to mark the occasion by walking his niece out as a mascot prior to kick-off.

He wrote: “Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the game out. ♥️ to my niece Natalia, my mascot for the day!”

Rashford received a response from a supporter, who messaged: “Hope you’re ok rashy.”

He issued a simple, optimistic reply, reading: “I will be okay.”

Expect Marcus Rashford back in Manchester United matchday squad

We should expect Marcus Rashford to be back in the matchday squad when Manchester United face Bournemouth this coming Saturday.

Whether he is in the starting line-up, is another matter. Competition for places is increasing with Antony showing signs of returning to form.

Antony was unlucky not to retain his place against Liverpool after a strong performance at Chelsea, and if Rashford is not 100 per cent, United do not have to push him.

The other factors in play are whether Alejandro Garnacho or Rasmus Hojlund are in need of a rest. Amad is also waiting in the wings for an opportunity.
