Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus admits Tottenham had a player who he thought was genuinely ‘unbelievable’

Tottenham Hotspur have been told by Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus that they’ve let a player go who he thinks is unbelievable.

Daniel Levy finally looks to have a manager in Ange Postecoglou who could potentially take Spurs to challenge for some major honours.

The league leaders are only 11 point above Spurs who have been seriously hindered by injuries this season.

To name just a couple, Micky van de Ven and James Maddison have both missed a fair bit of action this season through their own respective issues.

For now, Spurs are locked in a battle with Aston Villa for fourth spot to guarantee them a place in next season’s Champions League.

It could work out that fifth place could be enough to qualify for next season’s elite European competition due to UEFA’s new coefficient rule.

However, Spurs won’t want to be relying on new rules to squeeze their way into the competition.

And a win on the weekend against Newcastle United could take Spurs three points clear of Villa ahead of their game on Sunday against Arsenal.

It is a game which will leave Spurs fans conflicted with a win for either side going against anything Spurs fans want to see this season.

Gabriel Jesus says Spurs had a serious talent at their disposal at one point

The game on the weekend for Villa and Arsenal could have a huge say in both the race for the title and the top four.

A win for Arsenal is something which Spurs fans will never hope for and this Sunday will be no different.

And the Gunners do have a Champions League game against Bayern Munich to consider tonight.

Tottenham fans will be hoping for a favour from their all-time record goalscorer Harry Kane who will be making his first return to north London since leaving in the summer.

Bayern are going into the game on the back of some dismal league form which has seen their hopes of a 12 consecutive Bundesliga crown vanish.

Despite this, Kane remains held in high regard by those in Germany as his form continues to impress in what has been a disastrous season for Bayern.

If there is anyone who can stop Arsenal it is Kane. The England captain holds the best record in North London Derbies with 14 goals in his 19 appearances.

And speaking ahead of the game on Tuesday night at the Emirates, Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has admitted to the media he is a big admirer of Kane.

“Everyone knows the quality of Harry Kane. For me he’s the best finisher in the world. It’s great to play against these kind of players. We want to keep him quiet in the game,” he said.

“I don’t try to copy people. You see him finishing and you want to keep seeing it. Consistency. When you look at his numbers over the last 10 years, it’s unbelievable what he’s done.

“He can score in many different ways, he’s got the service and players around him to provide those opportunities. This is what we have to try to avoid.”

Harry Kane’s top three North London Derby goals

Having scored so many goals in the North London Derby, we have whittled Kane’s 14 strikes down to his top three against the Gunners.

  • #3 – 2017/18 header at Wembley (Spurs 1-0 Arsenal)

Although it may not have been a sensational strike from the edge of the box, this header at Wembley personified the power Kane had in this fixture as he rose above Laurent Koscielny to seal the points

  • #2 – 2020/21 record breaker at THS – (Spurs 2-0 Arsenal)

Being played in by his teammate Heung-min Son, Kane unleashed a powerful left-footed strike which soared past Bernd Leno in the Arsenal goal. What a way to become the NLD’s record goalscorer.

  • #1 – 2015/16 – White Hart Lane curler (Spurs 2-2)

There could only be one winner and it was that striker against Arsenal at White Hart Lane which saw Kane celebrate by ripping off his protective face mask.

Looking back on the goal, Kane told the Spurs website: “I got the ball out my feet and thought ‘why not?’ and, as soon as I hit it, I could see it going to that far post. To see it go in brought out a lot of emotion.”
