King Charles upsets nieces with royal 'snub' - 'Very upset over being ignored'

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are said to be ‘very upset’ they have not been asked to carry out royal engagements by King Charles while the royal family deals with a double health crisis.

King Charles announced he had been diagnosed with cancer in February. Then just over a month later, Kate Middleton delivered the same devastating news. Both have taken a step back from royal engagements while undergoing treatment, as Queen Consort Camilla steps in. However, one source says Prince Andrew’s daughters are upset they haven’t been asked to step up.

Princess Beatrice and Eugenie ‘are upset’ but ‘not surprised’ by the King’s actions

Prince William has also taken a step back from engagements for the time being, as he spends time away with his wife and children over the Easter break. As Prince Harry lives in the States, and is no longer a working royal, one source claims Beatrice and Eugenie are upset they’re ‘not being used.’

“It seems mean that the girls aren’t being used at all when they have made it clear they want to be of service,” a friend of the two told Daily Beast.

“Especially when Prince Andrew has been accepted back into the fold. They have done nothing wrong and they shouldn’t be visited with the sins of their father.”

The source then claimed the sisters were “very upset to have been ignored by the King as they feel they have a lot to offer, but ultimately not surprised. They are sanguine about it.”

Another source tells the publication Charles is “very fond” of his nieces, “but everyone, including them, accepts there is no place for them to be full-time working royals.”

Queen Elizabeth II made it clear before her death that “being a part-time working royal isn’t an option.”

Despite having royal titles, Beatrice and Eugenie aren’t ‘working royals’. It’s claimed the monarch wants a “slimmed down monarchy to counter public opinion concerned about the Sovereign Grant going to too many people and there being too much funding for minor royals,” Royal expert Carolyn Harris tells Forbes.

As well as Charles and Kate, Beatrice and Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson is also battling cancer. The Duchess of York was diagnosed with skin cancer at the start of the year after a battle with an early form of breast cancer.

“I couldn’t be prouder of Beatrice and Eugenie and the strong, independent young women they have become – in fact, they are my proudest achievement,” Sarah told Hello!

“They both work for a living and have carved out successful careers but also dedicate a great deal of time to charity work.”

The 64-year-old then went on to speak about her daughters’ close relationships with the Queen, saying they ‘learned so much’ from her, including “humility and goodness with compassion and strength. They are brave and bold and stand like giant oaks in the wind and don’t break.”
