‘He’s better’: Tim Sherwood says £28m Arsenal player doesn’t get enough credit

Arsenal’s recent run of form has bordered on unbelievable.

The Gunners have looked unbeatable since the turn of the year, and there’s a reason they currently sit at the top of the Premier League.

As you can imagine, many of the Gunners’ key players have stepped up during this run, and they’ve received their due credit.

Indeed, the likes ofBukayo Saka and Declan Rice are never out of the headlines for their strong performances, but according to Tim Sherwood, there’s one player in this Arsenal team who doesn’t get enough credit.

The Arsenal player who doesn’t get enough credit

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Tim Sherwood has been discussing David Raya, claiming that the £28m man doesn’t get enough credit for his showings this season.

“I don’t think the goalkeeper gets enough credit. There’s a lot of noise around the goalkeeper whether tat’s Raya or Ramsdale, but I’m not asking those questions now because he’s shown he’s better. He’s better than him. He’s more of a calming influence, he uses the ball better with his feet, and if you ask the players, they wouldn’t come out publicly and say it, but they’re far happier now they have Raya behind them than when they had Ramsdale,” Sherwood said.

The David Raya gamble has paid off

There was so much discussion around the signing of David Raya this summer.

The Spaniard was seen by many as a bit of an unnecessary addition to this side when he arrived to replace Aaron Ramsdale in the summer, but it’s fair to say this signing has paid off.

Indeed, the goalkeeper has been incredible between the sticks in recent months, and he’s added another level of calmness to this Arsenal side.

Raya has proven his value to this team, and, as Sherwood says, perhaps he does deserve a bit more credit for his performances.
