Liverpool have another Jarell Quansah who is ‘incredible’ and who Ruben Amorim would love - opinion

Ruben Amorim could unleash another Jarell Quansah at Liverpool if he is appointed as manager.

By all accounts, it seems like Ruben Amorim is the firm favourite to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. By all accounts, it also seems like he could be a shrewd appointment.

Amorim has delivered a Portuguese Cup while working at Braga. He won Sporting CP’s first league title in 19 years. And now looks on course to repeat that feat this season, while also having a chance to win the Portuguese Cup once again.

Amorim plays fast and intense football. He is very much a great motivator and gets the best out of his players.

He also embraces youth and loves to give young players a chance. At Sporting CP, he has utilised the club’s academy promoting the likes of Matheus Nunes, Nuno Mendes and Goncalo Inacio into the first team.

In total, he has given debuts to 25 players at the club who were 21-years-old or younger.

The difference between Jurgen Klopp and Ruben Amorim

There is one distinctive difference in the way Ruben Amorim plays football that will become evidently very quickly when you watch his team.

While his team presses forward and plays a high defensive line to limit the spaces ahead of the opponent, he uses a different formation to Klopp.

Amorim’s preference is for the 3-4-3 system, where he deploys three centre-backs and pushes his wing-backs a lot higher up the pitch.

This is something Amorim has stuck to both at Braga and Sporting CP in his almost five years in management. You would imagine he would play the same system at Liverpool as well.

Why Luke Chambers could be Ruben Amorim’s Quansah

One player who has plenty of experience playing in this system is Luke Chambers. The Liverpool youngster has been playing in that system and thriving at Wigan Athletic while on loan this season.

His manager described his debut as ‘incredible’ and later Chambers was voted as Player of the Month in February.

The reason why Chambers suits the system is because he can play both as a left-sided centre-back or as a left-wing-back. He’s played both roles at Wigan, and has done very well at League One until sustaining an injury this weekend.

In total, out of centre-backs in League One who have averaged at least seven defensive duels per 90 Chambers has the best success rate with 68% – as per Wyscout.

We’ve seen this season how Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah have both used their loan spells in League One to fight themselves into the Liverpool first team.

Chambers could definitely follow suit of the duo. He’s very highly rated at Anfield, and would be perfectly suited to playing multiple roles under Amorim.
