'Something ridiculous': Sheffield Wednesday gem told he did one absolutely 'divine' thing v QPR

One Sheffield Wednesday gem has been told he did something ‘divine’ against QPR.

Sheffield Wednesday will be brimming with confidence after their 2-0 win over QPR at the weekend.

The Owls were without a win in four games and were unable to close the gap between themselves and safety, while they were set to take on a QPR side who had lost only one of their previous eight matches.

Danny Rohl‘s side were quickly struck with bad luck when Ian Poveda was forced off with an injury early doors, but things started to turn around for them on the hour-mark.

Djeidi Gassama took the opportunity to replace Poveda with both hands as he opened the scoring, before squaring a lovely ball for Anthony Musaba to confirm the victory in the dying minutes of the game.

Wednesday now head into tonight’s clash with Norwich City desperate for another win, while Gassama is likely to take up a starting role in Poveda’s absence.

20-year-old did something ‘divine’ and ‘ridiculous’

The 20-year-old has been told he has what it takes to replace his Colombian teammate after the ‘divine’ thing he did vs QPR.

Speaking on the Not The Top 20 Pod, Ali Maxwell hailed Gassama for his display at Loftus Road.

“”Poveda started brightly then picked up an injury which looked a nasty one,” he said.

“That will be somewhat problematic for Wednesday because he does provide them with a spark.

“He’s got that individual ball carrying and dribbling quality, but Gassama has that too, as we saw in the build up to his quite hilarious goal. His absolutely divine dribble that got him into the box and then something ridiculous with the ball smashed into him and flying in the corner.”

Can he be the Owls’ new hero?

Djeidi Gassama did get some luck with the goal, but he certainly deserved it after his mazing run across the touchline and into the box.

The winger looked full of confidence and eager to make himself known after a rollercoaster campaign.

If he can be at his best tonight then he will undoubtedly find some success, with Norwich really struggling away from home this season.

The Canaries have conceded 39 goals on the road this term, and their leaky defence could well benefit the speed and trickery or Gassama and Anthony Musaba.

He’s struggled to settle into life at Hillsborough so far, but he could really prove himself if he manages to contribute to Wednesday’s position in the Championship next season.
