Iker Casillas says £378,000-a-week man at Man City is one of 'the two best' in the world

Iker Casillas believes Manchester City have a man who is one of the “two best” in the world.

Casillas seemingly holds City in high regard, naming them as Real Madrid’s European rivals over Bayern Munich.

The Spanish legend has more kind things to say about the Premier League champions.

City supporters have had the privilege of witnessing their club be in and amongst the conversations for the best in the world in every single department.

In terms of the players at the club’s disposal, Jamie Carragher recently claimed that Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland are two of the very best in the Premier League.

Manchester City’s academy is pitted alongside the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea and Ajax as the best in the business.

Even in terms of the club’s facilities, they are right up there with a club like Tottenham Hotspur.

Iker Casillas says Man City man is one of the “two best” in the world

This aim to obtain the best in class is the recipe behind the English giants’ success, as has been the case with clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern.

The more a top club compromises in even one department, the more they fall behind the rest of the pack in Europe.

Such has always been the nature of European football and Manchester City are seemingly aware of this reality.

Since their takeover in 2008, City have seemingly strived to create an elite environment to attract and breed winners to work with them.

No wonder they seem as meticulous as they are from the outside, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe also praising the club’s football operations behind the scenes two months ago.

Speaking of the crème-de-la-crème, Pep Guardiola must be mentioned when it comes to Manchester City, who Iker Casillas regards as one of the two best managers in the world.

“In addition, on the bench are the two best coaches, Pep [Guardiola] and Carlo [Ancelotti] both have reinvented themselves over the years, Guardiola in recent years has played with a purer [number] nine like [Erling] Haaland”, Casillas said about Guardiola while speaking to Relevo.

Iker Casillas needs no reminding of how brilliant Pep Guardiola is

If there is one man in football who is aware of how brilliant Pep Guardiola is, it is Iker Casillas.

The former Real Madrid captain witnessed Barcelona appoint the £378,000-a-week manager and dominate Spanish football in unprecedented fashion.

Casillas and Co. seemingly did their best to compete with the Catalan giants but it was not until the City boss’ final season that they managed to beat them to a La Liga title.

Having witnessed Pep Guardiola go on to succeed at Bayern Munich and Manchester City, even if the retired goalkeeper considered his countryman as a rival at Real Madrid, he perhaps had no choice but to respect his greatness over time.
