Both Man Utd and Erik ten Hag will love the news coming out of Liverpool right now

For Erik ten Hag and Manchester United, the latest news to come out of Anfield will be well-received for a couple of different reasons.

One of the biggest stories in the Premier League since January has been Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Liverpool which is now just over a month away.

His final season at Liverpool saw many fans of the Anfield-based side begin to assume the best with silverware in mind, but Manchester United had something to say about that.

Erik ten Hag knocked Klopp out of the FA Cup and this past weekend put a dent in their title hopes.

This season Liverpool hasn’t been able to defeat Ten Hag’s struggling United side despite having three chances to do so.

Now, the latest news from Liverpool regarding their next managerial appointment will be delighting Ten Hag, United and Ineos all at once. Here’s why…

Why Erik ten Hag will be delighted with Liverpool’s managerial plans

Ten Hag will be watching the managerial moves around Europe with great interest ahead of this summer with his own job the subject of wide debate.

One option for Ineos to replace Ten Hag has seemed to be Sporting Lisbon’s, Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese coach has been regularly linked with an Old Trafford move.

But now it looks unlikely as he has reportedly agreed terms with Liverpool as per Sky Germany.

This while a could be perceived as a blow for Ineos should they have been planning on Amorim being an option.

But for Ten Hag, it’s an option off the table as it looks more likely he will be kept on this summer, as the lack of quality options does make him the best option.

Manchester United will be confident of Ten Hag continuing record against Liverpool

Since he became Manchester United boss, Ten Hag has taken on Liverpool five times, losing only one of these meetings.

He won the first of the five 2-1, before losing the second 7-0 in what was quite clearly a freak result.

This season, a 0-0 draw was followed by a 4-3 win in the FA Cup and a 2-2 draw in the league.

For Ten Hag, this record could be about to only get better considering how good Ten Hag’s record is against Amorim at Sporting.

In two games during the 2021 Champions League group stage, Ten Hag’s Ajax took on Amorim’s Sporting and got the better on both occasions.

From these two results, it’s pretty evident that Ten Hag has Amorim’s number, so more good times may be ahead against Liverpool should he become the new manager.
