Moscow claims Burisma Holdings financed terror attacks in Russia

According to Russian state-run news agency RIA Novosti, a spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee alleged that the Ukrainian firm was involved in “financing terrorism within and outside of Russia.” The claim is that funds from Burisma Holdings were directed toward organizing assassination attempts on prominent public figures and inflicting “economic damage on Russia.”

“Money transferred through Burisma Holdings, a company operating on Ukrainian territory, was used for terrorist attacks in Russia...,” the statement said.

The report added that the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case on “financing terrorism” against officials from the United States and NATO countries following requests from members of the Russian parliament.

Burisma is a private Ukrainian natural gas enterprise, rankings among the top three largest independent gas producers in Ukraine, domiciled in Cyprus. Hunter Biden served on the company's board of directors from 2014 to 2019.
