Liverpool are now considering hiring 44-year-old manager who once went an entire season unbeaten – journalist

Liverpool’s search for a new manager isn’t proving to be easy.

The Reds have considered a number of different options already at this point, but many of their top targets aren’t proving to be easily attainable.

Xabi Alonso has already committed his future to Bayer Leverkusen, while it would cost a fortune to get Ruben Amorim out of Sporting.

So, naturally, Liverpool may have to consider some other options, and according to Rudy Galetti, there’s another manager now on the Reds’ shortlist.

The new manager on Liverpool’s shortlist

According to Galetti, Barcelona boss, Xavi is a name that has been added to the Reds’ shortlist.

The Spaniard won La Liga with the Spanish giants last year, but, much like Jurgen Klopp, he’s already decided to leave Catalonia at the end of the season.

Liverpool are apparently considering Xavi as an option, and that’s a very intriguing prospect to say the least.

Xavi looks like a top manager

Xavi may just look like another Pep Guardiola clone, and that is true in a sense, but he does have a brilliant managerial track record.

He won the league last year in just his second season at Barcelona, while he was also a massive success when he managed over in Qatar.

Indeed, Xavi’s Al-Sadd team won the 2020/21 Stars League with ease, they didn’t lose a single game during the entire campaign, and while that isn’t the greatest of standards, going unbeaten in an entire season is never an easy task.

Xavi, as we all probably remember, was an elite player and one of the smartest midfielders in history, so he will immediately command respect from the dressing room and the fanbase due to what he has achieved within the game.

Galetti notes that this is an unlikely appointment, but hiring the former World Cup winner probably wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world.
