Eliane of Hungerford hopes to start an altruistic movement with free meals offer

AN independent Hungerford café restaurant is celebrating its 10th anniversary in a unique way.

Owner Rafia Willmott is offering free meals and treats - and hopes the gesture might catch on with others.

She said: “To celebrate our 10th birthday at Eliane this April, we’re doing something special.

“Instead of throwing a big party, we’re reaching out to help our neighbours.

“Given the tough times we’ve all faced lately, we're offering five free vegetarian lunches a day between Sunday and Wednesday, along with 10 free coffees and croissants in the morning and five free teas and cakes in the afternoon.

“This is open to anyone in our community who’s feeling the pinch or just needs a bright spot in their day.

“We will run this initiative for the month of April and, if it’s successful, we may continue into the future.”

She added: “We've grown a lot in the last decade, and it’s all thanks to this incredible community.

“Now, we want to give back in a way that truly matters.

“It’s a chance for us to share some love and hopefully inspire other businesses, big and small, to do the same.

“We invite you to join this movement – spread the word, drop by for a meal, or help out.

“Every bit of support makes a difference.

“Together, we can make tough times a little easier for everyone.”

Eliane will be offering free vegetarian meals, or coffees and croissants, or tea and cake, with no strings attached.

Between Sundays and Wednesdays coffee and croissants will be on offer between 8am and 10.30am, lunch is between 1.30pm and 3.30pm and tea and cake between 3pm and 4.30pm.
