Report: What is now 'most likely' to happen to Yankuba Minteh at Newcastle this summer

It looks like being a big summer for Newcastle.

A big rebuild at St James’ Park has been predicted by some sources, albeit FFP issues may again limit the extent to which Newcastle can go with that.

Still, a lot of players have been linked with a move away as Eddie Howe and PIF look to freshen things up for what feels like the start of a new era for the club.

One of those is Miguel Almiron.

For all of his brilliance last season, the 30-year-old has frustrated at times this time around.

Though it remains to be seen how much the club can spend on a potential replacement for Almiron, they have a potential option returning from loan.

Indeed, Yankuba Minteh is making a huge impact during his spell with Feyenoord and will be reportedly be watched by Newcastle this summer to judge whether or not he’s ready for life in the Premier League.

The club are already thought to have told him he has similar attributes to Almiron but that does not mean they consider him ready for what is arguably the toughest division in world football.

His future is unclear but reports from The Athletic hint at what is currently looking like the most likely outcome at this stage.

What is most likely to happen to Yankuba Minteh and Newcastle this summer

They claim that the most likely thing to happen to Minteh next season is that he’ll re-join Feyenoord on loan.

The Dutch giants are understood to be keen for that outcome, while Newcastle themselves are said to be open to it, too.

Patience is a virtue for Newcastle

It is of course tempting to imagine Minteh coming into Newcastle and making an impact if Almiron does indeed leave.

However, it’s important not to rush the player.

Howe has done a fantastic job in developing young talents in Anthony Gordon, Lewis Miley, Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento.

If he doesn’t deem Minteh ready just yet, Howe has to be trusted.
