JUST over a month ago, The Corn Exchange launched their Old Library public campaign to reopen the historic Cheap Street building as a new creative space for our community so that they can continue to transform lives through the arts.
Since the launch, their amazing supporters have helped to raise an incredible £51,379.73 and the Corn Exchange are thanking all those who have donated to the campaign so far.
Participation in the Corn Exchange’s creative activities provides a lifeline to many local people: reducing social isolation and loneliness within the Newbury and surrounding area communities; improving mental health locally; and supporting young people in building confidence and self-esteem.
The Corn Exchange are proud of all the work they do, and say it is truly humbling to know how much this campaign is valued by everyone who has donated.
The Old Library will enable them to benefit more and more local people from the positive impact that engagement in creative activity and the arts can have.
On Friday, April 5, the Corn Exchange Newbury held its first fundraising event for the Old Library Campaign, a bake sale in the Café Bar, with delicious handmade baked goods themed on Easter and There’s a Monster in Your Show, the family show that was in the theatre at the time.
The bake sale was a great success, raising £184.74 for the campaign, thanks to all who baked, brought and bought delicious treats of all shapes and sizes.
