'Not really seen him': Fulham midfielder noticed Eddie Howe doing something unusual when they faced Newcastle

Somehow or another, Newcastle United snuck past Fulham on Saturday.

While surely few would doubt that Fulham had much the better of it during Saturday’s Premier League encounter, it was Eddie Howe’s Newcastle who emerged victorious.

Bruno Guimaraes struck in the final ten minutes on what was his 100 appearance for the club to keep their hopes of the Europa League on track.

The win, albeit an unconvincing one, made it two victories from three games since the international break and puts Newcastle in command of the race for seventh with West Ham.

They boast a game in hand on the Hammers, who currently occupy that spot. With a fair wind, Howe’s side could yet catch Manchester United in sixth, with the Red Devils only two points ahead and still to play Newcastle.

It wasn’t pretty at Craven Cottage but Howe’s team got the job done.

Cottagers boss Marco Silva hit out at Newcastle supposedly looking to delay the game when Martin Dubravka went down for treatment.

Silva thinks that was a ploy to try and halt Fulham’s momentum, although Howe has since disputed that.

Speaking of the game, Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney has shared something he noticed from Howe on the touchline.

Tom Cairney now shares what he noticed about Newcastle manager Eddie Howe for the first time

Speaking on The Players Channel with Michail Antonio, Cairney said he had never seen Howe look so animated.

“I could see Eddie doing whatever, quite animated for him, I had not really seen him like that to be honest,” he said.

Eddie Howe held harsh words with his Newcastle team

Howe’s anger was both palpable and understandable.

His team started to poorly in west London that it’s frankly a miracle they left with all three points.

After the game, Howe admitted to holding “harsh words” with his underperforming players and, clearly, they ultimately responded.

Cairney is right, Howe was angry. Luckily, he turned that into three points.
