Aaron Anselmino injury latest as Man Utd target carted off after scoring first ever professional goal

Manchester United will look strengthen in defence over the upcoming transfer window to solve an ageing an injury prone backline.

One player who has been linked with a potential move is Argentine prospect Aaron Anselmino, who is Marcos Rojo‘s current centre-back partner at Boca Juniors.

Argentine outlet Bola VIP report interest from Manchester United while Tuttosport report the club could sign him and send the defender out on loan to Ineos‘ partner club Nice for the season.

Aaron Anselmino scores first goal

Aaron Anselmino will have impressed any watching scouts as outshone former Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani, by scoring the winning goal.

The goal was a classic defender’s goal, heading in at the near post from a set piece.

This was his first ever professional goal, on just ninth ever appearance. It was a big moment for the 18-year-old, who made his Boca Juniors debut last year.

His impressive progress has sparked interest from Manchester United and AC Milan, and he has been praised by Boca supremo Juan Roman Riquelme.

Riquelme told Ole last month: “He looks bigger. He is going to compete with everyone. He has a huge future, in concentration he watches football all the time, he has the seriousness of a great person.”

Aaron Anselmino injury update

What should have been a night of celebration for Anselmino, ended on a sour note as he suffered an injury.

Anselmino was carted off at the beginning of the second half, with Boca left sweating over his injury.

Fortunately it does not appear to be too serious. Ole reports it is a muscle injury which is expected to keep the defender out for about three weeks.

This therefore will not impact any potential future transfer move this summer, providing he does not make a habit of it.

Manchester United already have one injury prone Argentine defender, and won’t want to be adding another.
