Aston Villa are interested in signing a “superb” 22-year-old forward who could blow John Duran out of the water.
It’s been a frustrating year for the Colombian. The 20-year-old has had to make do with a string of substitute appearances with starts rare under Unai Emery.
Duran has managed three goals from just two Premier League starts, although he has featured 18 times from the bench.
Despite the striker’s presence as Ollie Watkins’ understudy, Villa have been linked with another youngster who has attracted attention from across Europe.

According to Il Resto del Carlino, Villa have joined Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester United in showing interest in the 22-year-old striker Joshua Zirkzee.
The Dutchman has ten goals for the Serie A club Bologna in the 2023/24 season. It’s understood a deal hinges on whether Villa can secure qualification to the Champions League.
Furthermore, it’s believed agent Kia Joorabchian has been working on the early stages of a deal. Zirkzee is currently earning in the region of £15k-a-week at Bologna. His salary would take a steep rise if he move to a Premier Leauge club.

Zirkee would certainly provide some stern competition if he did come through the door at Villa Park. The “superb” striker has impressed in Italy and clearly thrived after being given a run of games in the side.

If Zirkee did make the move to the West Midlands, Villa would be landing a player who already has regular football under his belt.
Duran has taken his opportunities, but it remains to be seen if the Colombian can really show the long-term form needed to be Villa’s next number nine.
Ten goals in 29 league matches is certainly exciting reading ahead of what would be an eye-catching piece of business for Villa.
