Rafael Benitez spotted one Bayern Munich star playing just like Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min last night

Bayern Munich will have mixed feelings after their 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Arsenal.

Bayern headed to North London having suffered yet another Bundesliga defeat, throwing away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at Heidenheim.

Arsenal then went and took an early lead with Bukayo Saka curling a superb opener past Manuel Neuer.

Bayern had to dig deep and they did just that, equalising through Serge Gnabry before Harry Kane made it 2-1 from the penalty spot.

Thomas Tuchel’s men couldn’t hang onto that lead though as Leandro Trossard equalised for Arsenal, securing a 2-2 draw.

The tie is finely-poised heading as the teams prepare to lock horns again in Bavaria next week.

Former Tottenham man Kane would no doubt love to dump Arsenal out of the Champions League and he will need some help from Leroy Sane in the process.

Rafael Benitez on Leroy Sane

Sane was dangerous throughout and went on a stunning solo run to win the penalty for Kane’s goal.

The former Manchester City talent is known for his pace and Arsenal players found it difficult to contain him, both on and off the ball.

Former Liverpool and Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is now serving as Technical Observer for UEFA and watched last night’s game at the Emirates Stadium.

Benitez told UEFA that that he saw similarities between Sane and Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min.

Benitez noted that Kane linked with Sane in the same way he did with Son at Tottenham as Sane ran in behind defenders.

Maybe Tuchel studied Arsenal’s problems with Son in the past, as the South Korean has often been a thorn in their side over the years.

That could have inspired the Kane-Sane connection on Tuesday night with the England striker again showing off his link-up play.

Kane and Sane the danger men

Mikel Arteta already knows all about Sane having coached him at Manchester City.

The 28-year-old still proved to be a menace against Arsenal and the Gunners will have to keep close tabs on him in the second leg.

Gnabry picked up an injury, so it looks like Kingsley Coman will be on the opposite flank next week.

Arteta will be looking to shut down Kane and Sane individually but also in terms of their link-up play as Arsenal head to Bavaria.

That won’t be easy; both are exceptional attackers who can cause problems in so many ways.

That is the nature of Champions League knockout action though and Arsenal will be looking to learn from this first leg clash in order to progress.
