‘He was poor’: Roy Keane left unimpressed with £34m Liverpool player’s display at Old Trafford

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has labelled one key Liverpool player’s display at Old Trafford as ‘poor’.

Liverpool will be disappointed after failing to take their opportunities against United on Sunday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp’s men had to settle for a 2-2 draw, with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah getting on the scoresheet.

Despite taking the lead through Diaz, the Reds endured a frustrating opening 45 minutes as they failed to punish United.

Salah certainly wasn’t at his best in the final third as the Egyptian wasted a few decent opportunities.

The 31-year-old was visibly frustrated with Darwin Nunez in the first half after the Uruguayan failed to put him through on goal.

Yet, it has to be said that apart from stepping up to take the penalty, Salah struggled and arguably should have done better with a couple of chances that fell his way.

Speaking on Sky Sports after today’s 2-2 draw, Keane admitted that he expected Salah to take his opportunity from the penalty spot. But the United legend was disappointed with Salah’s all-round performance.

“Salah, once again a big moment,” Keane said. “He was poor in his general play but you obviously fancy him with the penalty.”

How many goals has Salah scored against Man United in the Premier League?

Despite a below-par display from Salah today, he’s proven to be a constant thorn in the side for United.

Since joining Liverpool for £34 million back in 2017, the forward has netted 11 times against the Red Devils in the Premier League.

The Egyptian is also the top-scoring player at Old Trafford in the competition’s history and added to his tally today.

After his effort from the spot today, Salah became the first player to score in four consecutive away games at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

There’s no getting away from the fact Salah should have done better in the final third this afternoon. But the Liverpool star continues to provide in the biggest moments and his penalty ultimately earned Klopp’s side a point.
