Former President Donald Trump's efforts to prepare for his New York hush money trial in a few days have hit a humiliating snag, as his attorneys tried to subpoena former D.A. investigator Jeremy Rosenberg — and accidentally brought in a different person with the same name.

The bemused Rosenberg told Trump's legal team "I don't have any files for you," and added, "I'm keeping the fifteen dollars" of witness travel expenses.

Commenters on the X social media platform wasted no time burying the former president and his legal squad in mockery over their mistake.

"In other legal news, Trump’s lawyers are so incompetent that they subpoenaed the wrong guy," wrote attorney Chris Sigurdson. "When he replied that he had no records for them they complained to the judge that his response was 'flippant and disrespectful'. Again, they subpoenaed the wrong guy."

"Always hires the best people," wrote former GOP turned Lincoln Project strategist Rick Wilson.

"The level of stupid with this f------ clown show," wrote the popular account "Machine Pun Kelly."

"Trump has the greatest legal team and will 100 percent get acquitted," wrote the account "Logan Henderson."

"So sharp, such morons," wrote the account @FluentVulgarian. "What a bunch of shmucks."

"Team Trump is not ready for trial, and they are scrambling," wrote the account "Jay Cooper." "Expect more desperation moves. I’d say the over/under on more requests for a continuance is 3, and I’d take the over. Daily double: do they try the last-minute-lawyer-firing gambit?"

"Welcome to our world, Jeff..." wrote the parody account "Four Seasons Total Landscaping" — a reference to the famous blunder in which Trump proclaimed Rudy Giuliani would be holding a press conference at the "Four Seasons" to promote 2020 election fraud conspiracy theories, when in fact the conference was held in the parking lot of a random local lawn care business in Philadelphia called Four Seasons Total Landscaping, leading to speculation there had been a mix-up and they meant to book the Four Seasons Philadelphia hotel.
