Following a revamp of Jurgen Klopp’s midfield last summer, it was initially Dominik Szoboszlai who stood out after his arrival from RB Leipzig.

What Liverpool staff have noticed about Mac Allister

The Athletic reports that Mac Allister isn’t the most vocal player in the Liverpool dressing room.

Virgil van Dijk leads by example in that regard but Mac Allister is said to be ‘well respected’ and will speak up when necessary.

It’s noted that the Argentine also made it clear he wasn’t keen on being nicknamed ‘Gary’ by Klopp and is now known as ‘Macca’.

Mac Allister stats for Liverpool this season

In his first 19 Premier League games for Liverpool, Mac Allister registered a goal and an assist while operating in a deeper midfield role.

But in his last seven appearances, he’s managed three goals and four assists from central midfield.

Mac Allister looked comfortable playing as a No6 but we are certainly seeing the best of the former Brighton man in recent weeks.

With Szoboszlai’s form dipping since a hamstring injury, Mac Allister has stepped up to provide in the final third for Klopp’s side.

His form has even surprised the likes of Glen Johnson, while one pundit has even claimed that Mac Allister has been a better signing than Arsenal star Declan Rice.
