'I'm sorry': Alan Brazil is convinced Man United man will be leaving sooner rather than later

With the season drawing to a close and the most Manchester United have to play for is qualification for the Europa League and The FA Cup – the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag is at an all-time high.

Manchester United have failed to put up a fight for a place in the top four, sitting way down in sixth which is likely to guarantee a place in the Europa League next season. They are in the semi-finals of The FA Cup.

They take on Championship side Coventry who are in fine form – as they push for a play-off place in the second tier. But for a club the size of Man United, it is not enough. Their league position is under threat.

David Moyes is under pressure at West Ham and yet, his Hammers side are only a point behind ten Hag’s men. Newcastle are finding some form and are two points behind, in eighth. Ten Hag’s future is unclear.

Alan Brazil has his say on ten Hag’s future at Manchester United

Having done little in his time at Manchester United, Chris Sutton recently said – and unequivocally, as is the way with Sutton – that ten Hag will not manager of Manchester United come the start of next season.

Asked by Ally McCoist on TalkSPORT (11/04, 7.50AM) if ten Hag will leave this summer, Alan Brazil thinks it will come to an end for ten Hag. Comparing him to a science teacher, he said ten Hag lacks character.

“Yeah I do. You’ve got to have something about you as a Manchester United manager, and I just don’t see it. He reminds me of a science teacher. I like characters, I just don’t see any character in him, I’m sorry.”

Who is in the running to replace ten Hag at Manchester United?

Well, reports this week say that Graham Potter is very interested in taking over the reigns at Old Trafford. The new owners are said to be big admirers of Potter, having tried to lure him to Nice, who they still own.

Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton is also being linked, as is England manager Gareth Southgate but United would have to wait until after Euro 2024 to bring in the Three Lions gaffer. It is unclear if he wants the job.

But one thing is clear, ten Hag’s future is in major doubt and as things stand, it seems more likely that the new board at Old Trafford will decide to oust ten Hag – rather than give him a chance in the dugout.
