'I think': Kieran Tierney shares whether he believes Arsenal can win the Premier League this season

Out on loan Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has now been sharing his verdict on his parent club potentially winning the Premier League this season.

Understandably a lot of the focus has been on Mikel Arteta’s attempts to navigate his Arsenal side past Bayern Munich this week.

But with that Champions League tie now on ice until next Wednesday, Arsenal will need their full focus on a visit from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

Arsenal will face their former manager in Sunday’s late kick off, playing after both Manchester City and Liverpool.

With respect, Pep Guardiola’s side face a very winnable home tie with Luton Town on Saturday, and the same can then be said for Jurgen Klopp welcoming Crystal Palace to Anfield.

Of course, if they want to win the league, Arsenal know that they can’t afford to drop points irrespective of how their title-rivals are getting on.

And with that in mind and with just seven games left this season, Kieran Tierney has now shared his verdict on Arsenal winning the Premier League.

Kieran Tierney believes Arsenal can win the Premier League because of defensive change

Speaking in an interview with talkSPORT yesterday, Tierney was confident that his parent club could win the league.

The Scotland international, who will return to Arsenal after the Euros this summer, said the club were a lot more experienced compared to last year.

He explained: “Tierney said: “I think they can, I don’t know exactly the run-in for the three teams fighting for it, but I think they are in a better position than last year.

“They’ve got more experience than last year and I think their whole game has developed so much as well.

“Defensively they are solid, they don’t give much away, and if you can keep that record up then 100% you’ve got every chance to go on and do it.”

Of course, that defensive change that Tierney mentioned is the reason there’s so much optimism around the Emirates right now.

The two goals Arsenal conceded against Bayern on Tuesday almost felt like watching Arsenal of last season, a side who often demonstrated a bit of naivety at the back.

But Mikel Arteta will be ensuring that was just a one-off, a result of playing against one of Europe’s best attacks in a high-pressure environment.

All that being said, perhaps Tuesday’s draw did also demonstrate a signing that Arsenal need to make ahead of next season.
