Tottenham could now sign Ivan Toney for much cheaper than expected after asking price slashed

Tottenham Hotspur could now land Brentford’s Ivan Toney for a much reduced price this summer.

Ange Postecoglou‘s appointment last summer has seen a number of new faces come through the doors at Hotspur Way.

However, there was no big name striker brought in over the two windows which the Australian has overseen with Alejo Veliz the only striker signed.

Of course, Timo Werner has since come in over the winter window and Spurs hold the option to make his stay permanent for £15m.

Richarlison has been the man through the middle for the large majority of the campaign but he has endured some injury issues.

And this has seen Tottenham linked with a potential move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney over the coming months.

The striker is a name who has been linked with Spurs and he has even been spotted recently with Destiny Udogie outside of the pitch.

Brentford slash valuation of Tottenham target Ivan Toney

It has been claimed the Lilywhites are eyeing a possible move for Toney over the coming months with his Brentford future up in the air.

He is a player who Daniel Levy and the Spurs hierarchy feel would be a great fit for Postecoglou’s system.

And their interest in the striker is apparent with their scouts having been sent to watch Toney play for England last month against Belgium.

It is believed Brentford had valued the striker at around £60m earlier this season prior to his return from his ban.

However, that may have slightly changed with Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg now sharing their renewed valuation of the player.

According to the German journalist, Toney could now be made available this summer for as little as £30m-£40m.

A number of other Premier League clubs are said to be monitoring the 28-year-old with Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham credited with interest.

Interesting stats show Ivan Toney may not be an improvement on Richarlison

Having returned from a lengthy ban, the England international has not exactly found solid form in a struggling Brentford side.

Toney made his return to the fold in January and actually did score four times in his first five games, but he has since hit a goal drought.

Both Toney and Richarlison have had disrupted seasons so here is how the two compare over the 2023/24 term.

It has to be caveated that Toney is playing in a much weaker side and did impress for England against Belgium last month.

At £30m-£40m, could Toney be the bargain of the summer?
