‘Could do a job’: Alan Brazil now tips 44-year-old manager to replace Erik ten Hag at Man United

Alan Brazil claims a current Premier League manager ‘could do a job’ at Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s future remains uncertain heading into the business end of the season, with Manchester United 11 points adrift in the race for a Champions League spot.

The Dutchman remains firmly in with a chance of winning the FA Cup as United will face Coventry City in the semi-final at Wembley later this month.

Despite the possibility of delivering his second domestic trophy at Old Trafford, the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS has cast doubt over Ten Hag’s future.

Chris Sutton believes United will head in a new direction this summer, which would ultimately lead to Ten Hag’s departure.

A host of names have already been linked with a switch to Manchester, including the likes of England boss Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter and Roberto De Zerbi.

Brazil backs Roberto De Zerbi to replace Ten Hag

Speaking on talkSPORT, Brazil asked Ally McCoist if Potter would be a good fit for United.

“No,” McCoist responded. “I don’t think he’d be a good fit for Manchester United because I think he’ll need to go somewhere else after the disappointment at Chelsea.

“I don’t think he’ll come into the running for Manchester United because I don’t think it’s a good look for them taking a manager who’s been sacked at Chelsea.”

McCoist then quizzed Brazil on who he’d replace Ten Hag with should they decide to part ways with the former Ajax man this summer.

“De Zerbi,” Brazil said. “I think he could do a job there.”

McCoist hit back: “So you said De Zerbi could do a job at Manchester United but not at Liverpool?”

“I think he could do a job but Liverpool have got a great squad so you’ve got a chance whoever goes in there,” Brazil added.

De Zerbi a ‘strong candidate’ for Man United job

Should United decide to head in a different direction this summer, De Zerbi could be an excellent choice.

The 44-year-old has impressed at Brighton and led them to a European spot last term.

This season has proven to be more difficult for the Italian boss, with Brighton’s suffering an ongoing injury crisis.

But the Seagulls currently sit 10th in the Premier League with an outside chance of qualifying for Europe once again.

With United weighing up their options ahead of the summer, it’s already been claimed that De Zerbi is a ‘strong candidate’ to replace Ten Hag.
