'Trying to progress': £51m player now angrily suggests he doesn't want to play for Tottenham

It is unusual to hear a player directly name a club who are keen to sign him – but that is exactly what has happened with Tottenham.

In fact, the footballer in question has not only namedropped Spurs once in 2024, but twice.

Ange Postecoglou is currently working with those on the recruitment team at Tottenham to build on a promising 2023/24 season, in which clear progress has been made.

However – after some fresh comments were uttered – it seems Tottenham may have to cross one target off the list…

Loic Bade angrily suggests he does not want Tottenham move

Well, Tottenham are somewhat receiving mixed signals from Sevilla No.22 Loic Bade.

The Frenchman was asked back in February about strong rumours linking him with a move to Spurs.

At the time, Bade told Estadio Deportivo: “There is a little bit of satisfaction. When a great club like Tottenham are interested, it’s because you do good things.”

However, the 24-year-old now appears to have become fed up by consistent links to Tottenham.

Marca quote Bade as saying: “I’ve already said that I’m an Andalusian. I’m comfortable, I’m working well, I’m trying to progress. I’m at Sevilla, I don’t know why you’re talking to me about Tottenham.”

The man from Sèvres actually used a strong piece of language before the word Andalusian – although we won’t expose you to that.

Nevertheless, Bade’s choice of words suggests he is truly sick of being asked about joining Tottenham, and is firmly focused on Sevilla right now.

It means Postecoglou will have to find another central defender to bolster his backline this summer, barring any shock developments.

Spurs could get a freebie instead

Bade would have been quite expensive for Spurs anyway, as he has a £51m release clause in his contract at Sevilla.

However, Tottenham could actually sign a freebie as an alternative in Tosin Adarabioyo.

A story from Calciomercato has claimed that Spurs are keen to sign the Fulham No.4 when his contract expires this summer, and the centre-back would be willing to move across London to join Tottenham.

That represents a stark contrast to how Bade is currently feeling about Spurs, so don’t be surprised to see the 26-year-old end up in north London instead this summer.
