Vardy axed, 27-year-old starts: Leicester City predicted XI, team and injury news v Plymouth Argyle

Leicester City are in Championship action on Friday evening, as they travel to Home Park to face Plymouth Argyle.

Having suffered a 1-0 defeat to Millwall on Tuesday, Leicester are in desperate need of a reaction and can’t afford to slip up in this one.

Fortunately for Enzo Maresca‘s side, Leeds United and Ipswich Town both failed to pick up three points themselves.

So, they remain at the summit of the table with five cup finals ahead of them, starting with a clash against relegation-threatened Plymouth.

The Southwest outfit have won one of their last eight games and reside just two points above the drop zone.

Maresca spoke to the media on Thursday morning and issued a positive injury update on academy graduate Kasey McAteer, who hasn’t featured since February due to a hamstring injury.

“He (McAteer) had his first session with us yesterday; first full session. So, he can be involved in the squad,” the Italian head coach said.

Harry Souttar is now the only absentee, as he continues to recover from an injury which he picked up on international duty with Australia in March.

We could see wholesale changes on Friday, with Leicester having only played 72 hours prior.

In goal, Mads Hermansen is expected to assume his usual place in the side with a back four in front of him consisting of Hamza Choudhury, Conor Coady, Jannik Vestergaard and James Justin.

Moving into midfield, Wilfred Ndidi and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall may both drop out. Ndidi, in particular, looked leggy at The Den.

Dennis Praet, having impressed in his cameo against Millwall, may start and line up alongside Harry Winks and Yunus Akgun.

With McAteer now back available, he could be deployed on the wing, though, we’ve gone for Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi.

Up front, Jamie Vardy may drop to the bench with Kelechi Iheanacho making his first start since December.

The 27-year-old was on as a substitute on Tuesday and almost netted the equaliser had it not been for an incredible Millwall clearance.

Leicester City (4-3-3): Hermansen; Choudhury; Coady, Vestergaard, Justin; Praet, Winks, Akgun; Fatawu, Iheanacho, Mavididi.
