"Handful": Paul Merson says one Crystal Palace player could trouble Liverpool on Sunday, also predicts result

After last week’s decent display against Man City, things will get no easier for Crystal Palace with Liverpool next up.

For Oliver Glasner, the end-of-season fixture list will be concerning, having just played Manchester City and this weekend taking on Liverpool.

But despite that, considering how well his Crystal Palace side did against City, he’ll be quietly confident of picking up a result somewhere along the line.

While losing 4-2 in the end, the result doesn’t tell the entire story, with City being out-performed during quite a bit of the game.

Now, just days away from visiting Anfield, Paul Merson has shared his prediction for the game, and in doing so has stated that there’s one player Liverpool could struggle with.

Paul Merson names one player who’d be a handful for Liverpool

While predicting the game this Sunday between Liverpool and Palace on SportsKeeda, Merson singled out one of Glasner’s best players for praise.

It was Jean-Philippe Mateta and Merson has labelled him as a player who could cause Liverpool issues.

“Palace will cause Liverpool a handful of problems and Jean-Philippe Mateta is a handful up front”, he explained.

Continuing, Merson admitted he does see Palace being competitive once again in this one.

“Palace will make it hard because they have players who can do stuff on the ball”.

Finally, he concluded by predicting the scoreline for the game.

A 3-1 win to Liverpool is what he went with, as Jurgen Klopp’s side continue to look strong in the title race.

Crystal Palace need to find points somewhere

For Palace, this run of games has come at a poor time, with points desperately needed to help as relegation gets closer.

The remaining fixtures are a daunting run of games for Palace, all against sides above them in the league.

Of these games, there is only a handful in which realistically Palace can expect points and with only seven games left, it could be pretty touch and go over the next few weeks as to whether Palace survive or not.
