'Honestly': Micah Richards says Arsenal have an 'amazing' player who is reaching 'world class' levels

Micah Richards has heaped praise on an Arsenal player after seeing him in action against Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week.

The Gunners have an incredible squad, don’t they?

Mikel Arteta has built a side capable of beating any team in world football, and Arsenal fans are dreaming of going all the way in the Premier League and the Champions League this season.

On Tuesday, the North Londoners were held to a 2-2 draw against German champions Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring for the Gunners, but the visitors scored twice in the space of 14 minutes through Serge Gnabry and Harry Kane to take the lead.

Leandro Trossard then saved the day for Arsenal with an equaliser in the second half, and the two teams will battle it out at the Allianz Arena next week for a spot in the semi-finals.

Micah Richards shares what he noticed about Bukayo Saka during Arsenal vs Bayern

The game between Arsenal and Bayern Munich this week was a fantastic watch.

Top-quality footballers on either side went up against each other and the game had everything – goals, mistakes, drama and controversy.

Neither Mikel Arteta nor Thomas Tuchel would’ve been happy with the draw, but both of them have to settle for it and fight it out for a result in Munich next week.

One player who was involved in a lot of things on Tuesday was Bukayo Saka.

The Englishman scored a beautiful goal to open the scoring and remained a constant threat. He was involved in some controversy later on as well, when he was denied a penalty in the last minute of the game.

Micah Richards watched Saka this week, and it looks like he was blown away by the 22-year-old’s performance.

The pundit noticed how Saka has now stepped up to be the ‘man of the team’ in important moments and deliver on the biggest stage, which pushes him closer to becoming a ‘world-class’ player.

Richards said on the Rest is Football podcast: “You know when you have so many good youngsters, especially going into a tournament, we’ve talked about Declan Rice, we’ve talked about Phil Foden, but Saka, honestly, he is such an intelligent, amazing, wonderful talent.

“I say that because he sort of takes up this role that ‘I’m going to be the man of the team in the big moments’.

“You expect that, of course, when you get in the world-class tag or going to be world-class. But, how you define ‘world-class’ or how you define a top player is performing in the big games. He didn’t hide. Top players don’t hide.

“He took his goal so well. I could see it before he even (scored) – I was like he’s going to bend it into the far corner. His execution was just brilliant. He’s such a wonderful player.”

Arsene Wenger’s verdict on whether Bukayo Saka is world-class

There has been a lot of debate over whether Arsenal‘s Bukayo Saka is a ‘world-class’ player over the last few months.

The Gunners number seven has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions this season, which is a tremendous return for a wide player.

Almost every Arsenal fan will tell you that Saka is a world-class player, but Rio Ferdinand ruffled a few feathers recently when he came out and claimed that the Englishman is not world-class.

That caused a bit of a storm on social media, but the debate was finally settled by one of the greatest managers football has ever seen – Arsene Wenger.

The legendary Frenchman claimed: “I would say he’s world-class.”

“He’s top-level, because players at that age who make differences at that level of a game have a great future,” Wenger also said.

“He is a top person as well, humble, wants to learn wants to work. He’s certainly already one of the three best English players.”
