‘95% chance’: Alasdair Gold says £20m player will almost certainly be sold by Tottenham now

Tottenham Hotspur have a few players they need to sell heading into the summer transfer window.

The north London club do have a number of players who can be considered deadwood at this point such as Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon, while there’s another player out on loan who doesn’t appear to have a future at Spurs.

Indeed, Djed Spence has barely played for Tottenham since his £20m move to Spurs last summer, and, by the sounds of things, he doesn’t have much of a shot at getting back into this team under Ange Postecoglou.

Djed Spence likely to leave

Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold spoke about Spence’s future at Tottenham, and he says there’s a 95% chance he doesn’t have a future at Spurs.

“Some people have asked you know ‘can Ange make him a superstar? Will he be the right-back at Spurs next season?’ I would go as far as to say there’s a 95% chance of that not happening. Ange just did not fancy him. He didn’t like the look of him last summer and when he came back from the Leeds loan he was training with the U21s. We will see what happens, he has a fair chunk of his contract left, and the option on the Genoa deal seemed to be very low, which suggests they’re willing to take anything for him, which isn’t a great look either,” Gold said.

Djed Spence’s Tottenham move has been a disaster

There was so much excitement around Djed Spence at one point.

He was one of the brightest players in the Championship during his loan spell with Nottingham Forest, and he looked like a shrewd signing for Tottenham.

However, he’s failed to make an impression under numerous managers and in numerous loan spells now, and it may just be time for Spurs to cut their losses and move on from this player after a disastrous 18 months in north London for the right-back.

Spence could still have a bright career ahead of him, but, by the sounds of it, it won’t be at Tottenham.
