Report: After Lerma and Munoz, Crystal Palace now trying to sign another Colombian, will cost £9m

Ever since Steve Parish hired Dougie Freedman as Director of Football back in 2017, Crystal Palace have made a habit of dipping into the Championship for signings.

The likes of Marc Guehi, Ebere Eze, Michael Olise and Adam Wharton were all plucked from England’s second tier by the Glaswegian – while more from the Championship are being looked at in Jaden Philogene and Jonathan Rowe of Hull and Norwich respectively.

However, there has recently been a focus on recruiting Colombia internationals, with Jefferson Lerma and Daniel Munoz both arriving at Selhurst Park in the last 12 months.

Now, Dougie Freedman is trying to bring another Colombian to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace trying to sign Jhon Arias

Well – according to AS – Crystal Palace have made contact with Fluminense to enquire about the signing of Jhon Arias.

The Spanish news outlet believe the Brazilian side will demand €10m (£9m) to sell the Colombia international this summer, although Freedman has his work cut out to fend off the competition.

AS add that Atletico Madrid, who actually came close to signing Jean-Philippe Mateta before his move to SE25, are keen to sign Arias as well, while Scottish giants Rangers are also interested.

A few Premier League sides are also showing the South American some attention, with West Ham, Burnley and Wolves sending enquiries to Fluminense as well.

The Fluminense No.21 has made 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring five goals while also providing two assists.

Arias also boasts 13 caps for Colombia, scoring one goal.

Jefferson Lerma and Daniel Munoz could be decisive

Arias has actually played a fair bit of football with Lerma and Munoz since breaking into the Colombian national team, so the Crystal Palace duo could help Freedman strike an agreement.

Eight of the Crystal Palace target’s 13 games for Colombia have come alongside Lerma, averaging 2.75 points per game as they won seven and drew one of these outings.

In regards to Munoz, the Crystal Palace No.12 has made 11 appearances alongside Arias for Colombia, winning nine and drawing two – clearly, good things happen when all three are on the pitch.

Hopefully, the Colombian Crystal Palace duo can have a word with Arias, and help Freedman bring him to Selhurst Park.
