Chelsea confirm 11 players have missed training today ahead of Everton game this weekend

Chelsea have confirmed that 11 players have missed training ahead of Everton’s trip to Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Sean Dyche’s side are looking to build on their narrow victory over Burnley at Goodison Park last time out, which was their first win of 2024.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men sit ninth and have won three of their last five matches in all competitions, although two draws came against Burnley and Sheffield United.

The West Londoners still have an outside chance of European qualification next season and will be looking to build on their excellent recent home form.

However, Pochettino has been dealt a blow ahead of Monday’s clash.

Chelsea have posted an update on their official website, and it doesn’t make for particularly good reading.

Axel Diasi and Enzo Fernandez both missed training and are currently under “medical assessment”. Robert Sanchez and Raheem Sterling are out due to Illness. Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, and Lesley Ugochukwu are all continuing their rehabilitation.

The update also states that Ben Chilwell has not returned to full training. Overall, the Blues have 11 players absent, which could be considered a boost for Dyche’s men.

Everton could take advantage of Chelsea’s injury list

Everton must look to take advantage of what is a fairly significant injury list for the Chelsea boss to deal with.

The Toffees have a clean bill of health at the moment, with Amadou Onana now in contention to return after missing the 1-0 win over Burnley.

Dyche has raised concerns over Dominic Calvert-Lewin, although the striker should be fit to be feature at Stamford Bridge.

“We are just having to watch the players going forward,” Dyche explained on Thursday.

“He [Calvert-Lewin] has a minor niggly hamstring going forward. We are just being ultra-careful with it; he thinks he’s on top of it.”
