The FA confirm how much Arsenal paid in agent fees during 23-24, after Declan Rice signing

It has been a busy season for Arsenal in the transfer window, with the likes of Declan Rice, David Raya and plenty of other players brought to the club – now, it’s shared how much they spent on agents.

Mikel Arteta made four senior signings, though only three have made a real impact since coming to the club. The Gunners didn’t do any business in January – but there were plenty of Arsenal outgoings, too.

Last summer, Arsenal bought Declan Rice from West Ham. The England man has since a pivotal member of this Gunners side and has even had a hand in 13 goals, replacing the Granit Xhaka role from last term.

A goalkeeper was hardly a position that the Gunners needed given the form of Aaron Ramsdale, but the North London side chose to bring in David Raya on an initial loan deal from Brentford, worth £30m.

How much did Arsenal spend on agents during 2023-24?

The addition of Kai Havertz was criticised initially, with the big-money addition struggling to show why the Gunners had made a move to lure him across London from Chelsea to The Emirates. That’s changed.

The Germany star has been sensational of late – but less can be said for that of Dutch defender Jurrien Timber. Injury has limited the versatile ace to two senior Gunners outings – suffering an ACL injury.

Roughly, Arsenal spent around £250m on those four players. Now, The FA have released their list on fees paid to agents per club – in the Premier League. Arsenal spent a whopping £24,760,875 to intermediaries.

Nearly £25m… where do Arsenal rank with other clubs?

Arsenal, despite only making four signings in the summer, Arsenal were still fifth-highest in terms of fees paid to agents during the 2023-24 season – or the period of February 1 2023, to February 1 2024.

It will come as no surprise that Chelsea were by far and away the highest, in the region of a whopping £75m. Manchester City second highest, with £60m. Manchester United and Liverpool, third and fourth.

What is quite surprising, is just how high up that list Arsenal are despite their lack of signings but given the enormity of the deals for Rice and Haverts – it makes sense. It is hard to know if it is value for money.
