Report: £72k-a-week Manchester United man could team up with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a swap deal

The future of Erik ten Hag is likely to be decided in the next couple of months at Manchester United, and whether the Dutchman is the man the new Old Trafford board want in charge of the next era.

Whether ten Hag stays or goes, there will be a bit of reshuffle in terms of playing squad. United have plenty of dead wood on the books and will need to sell to make room for new signings this summer.

Anthony Martial, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are all expected to leave on a free transfer this summer, while there is no decision on the future of Sofyan Amrabat made, just yet. Others will be told they can go.

Manchester United expected to cash in on a number of players

Big earners, not worth their wages. That will be whether ten Hag is in charge, or not. The club’s board will not want to simply plough a load of cash into the club on new signings – they will want some to be sold.

One of those could be Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The 26-year-old has been consistently linked with the exit door. With his contract worth £72,000 a week, expiring in 2025 – United may look to sell him this summer.

It comes after the English defender had interest from Saudi Arabia in January, and was the subject of a possible swap deal with Inter Milan – Denzel Dumfries coming the other way, to Manchester United.

Wan-Bissaka could be sacrificed, and potentially in a swap deal

Well, a new report from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato says that Inter’s interest has not subsided ahead of the summer market. The Nerazzurri still want to sign the former Crystal Palace right-back from United.

The report claims they find more success in pursuit of the Man Uniged man, given his contract situation at Old Trafford. The possibility of a swap deal with Dumfries remains on the cards, as per the report.

Bringing in Dumfries and losing Wan-Bissaka would be wonderful business for United. But it all depends on the new manager. A move would see Wan-Bissaka team up with Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Inter Milan.
