Sky Sports pundit David Prutton now gives score prediction for Sheffield Wednesday v Stoke City

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has issued his score prediction ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s clash with Stoke City this weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday could finally claw their way out of the relegation zone this weekend as they host a vital six-pointer against the Potters.

The Owls are now unbeaten in two after managing to come back from being two goals down against Norwich City midweek.

They have now lost only one of their previous seven games at Hillsborough and will be full of confidence as they take on another relegation rival, who have taken nine points from a possible 24 on the road this year.

Wednesday could do the double over Stoke tomorrow, having narrowly beaten them at the bet365 Stadium in December.

They had only one of their eight meetings before that though, while they have only actually beaten them on home soil once in the last 25 years.

A win for Stoke could probably ease the pressure off them, while defeat for Danny Rohl‘s side could leave them relying on results elsewhere to give themselves a decent chance of scraping survival.

An unwanted result for both teams

It’s really a must-win for both teams, so they will be disappointed to hear that Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has tipped a 1-1 draw.

Speaking on Sky Sports Championship Predictions podcast, he said: “Great win against QPR. Awful for quite a large spell against Norwich, but to come back and get something from the game…

“Watching Stoke last night, wasn’t happy was he, Steven Schumacher? But broadly good work before them, so that was a reality check.

“Two huge football clubs, very much scratching around at the wrong end of the table.”

Will Sheffield Wednesday follow the same old pattern?

Given how results have gone in recent months, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see Sheffield Wednesday lose after such a positive week.

Every opportunity the Owls have been given to climb out of the bottom three has seen them drop points and remain in 23rd place.

While they have now moved up to 22nd, it is still a big ask for them to have the bottle to take it up a notch. But there is no excuse for them to lose this time.

They aren’t playing Leeds or Ipswich or Norwich anymore, Wednesday should be able to beat the Potters and should be disappointed if they fail at doing so.
