'He's done a good job': Ange Postecoglou delighted with £20m Tottenham player who could leave this summer

Tottenham are back in action this weekend as they take on Newcastle United looking to continue their march towards a top four place.

Ange Postecoglou has delivered in his first season in charge and Spurs are very much in pole position to seal a Champions League spot come the end of the season.

Whether or not they do seal that spot remains to be seen.

But one thing for sure is that Tottenham will be busy in the summer, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Postecoglou is keen to keep on evolving his squad and after being backed in the two windows he’s had so far, he’ll be hoping for more this summer.

Of course, with new signings wanted, a number of players could well go. One of whom is Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The former Southampton man has played his part this season but is being heavily linked with a move away.

But while he could indeed be surplus come the summer, his manager has spoken highly ahead of this weekend’s clash with Newcastle.

Ange Postecoglou praises impact of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at Tottenham

Hojbjerg has been more a bit-part player for Tottenham this season but with so many injuries, the Dane has managed to maintain being a key figure.

And speaking in his press conference ahead of the clash with the Toon this weekend, Postecoglou was full of praise for the £20m midfielder.

“Pierre has been good. He hasn’t started as many games probably as he would like but whenever we have needed him he has done a good job. From our perspective we are in a good place at the moment, where I can make these changes within games or between games,” Postecoglou said.

Every team needs a Hojbjerg

It might have looked like he was on his way out both in the summer and in January but Hojbjerg has hung around and it’s a good job really.

Spurs have had a bit of a disaster with injuries as the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur have been in and out of things and players like Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr went to the AFCON in January.

Hojbjerg, then, has ended up playing a key role and it’s widely known from reports that he is a popular and professional member of the Tottenham squad.

What the future holds, who knows.

But right now, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has played his part in the Ange Postecoglou era and deserves whatever good comes in the summer.
