‘Frustrating’: Pundit says 26-year-old Man Utd player could actually become world class if he leaves the club

The pressure of playing for Manchester United can get to certain players.

Indeed, there are countless examples of talented footballers who just couldn’t handle playing for United for one reason or another from Jadon Sancho to Memphis Depay.

Marcus Rashford has been out of form for United for quite some time now, and according to Jermaine Beckford, speaking on the World Class Stamp Podcast, the attacker may need to leave United in order to fulfil his potential.

Marcus Rashford can become world-class elsewhere

Beckford spoke about Rashford’s form and what he needs to do in order to become a world-class player.

“He’s been way out of form. Marcus Rashford has all of the ingredients to be a world-class player, he really has, but there’s something that isn’t clicking with him over the last two years, and that’s frustrating. He seems slightly off calibration at the moment,” Beckford said.

“Do you think a move might help him out there?” The host asked.

“Yes, the pressure of playing for Manchester United, arguably one of the biggest clubs in the world, is humongous. There’s no hiding place. By moving to a PSG for example, a massive club, but nowhere near United,” Beckford said.

“Nowhere near the expectations of United, they should be challenging for the title and the Champions League every year, but they’re not and the pressure is on him, Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho and Hojlund now, but I don’t think they can handle it, they’re not cut from the same cloth as the Roy Keane’s, Paul Ince’s and David Beckham’s.”

Marcus Rashford has so much ability

Beckford is right, Rashford can be a world-class player under the right circumstances.

However, it does feel as though Manchester United are no longer the right club for him to thrive at.

He’s in the centre of the spotlight at Old Trafford. He’s the local lad and the star player in a team that just isn’t performing, and perhaps if he went to a club where his individual expectations were lower, he’d be able to show just how good he is.
