‘Maybe’: Journalist suggests Ruben Amorim could sign ‘outstanding’ player if he’s hired by Liverpool

Ruben Amorim is the man making all of the headlines at the moment at Liverpool.

Indeed, the Sporting manager is reported to be a frontrunner to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer, and that’s a very exciting prospect to say the least.

Amorim has worked wonders over in Portugal, and if he can continue that good work at Liverpool, major silverware may follow.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing Amorim’s potential move to Anfield, and he’s suggested a signing that the gaffer could already potentially be thinking about.

Ruben Amorim could bring a player with him to Liverpool

Jones spoke about Liverpool’s defensive needs and a potential move for Goncalo Inacio if Amorim comes in.

“Yeah you would also wonder about the depth of the squad and the areas they need to bulk out. They need another centre-back don’t they? You think of who they have been linked with, Inacio has been on their radar for a while, maybe he could follow him,” Jones said.

Liverpool need a defender

This is a move that would make a lot of sense.

Goncalo Inacio has been linked with Liverpool for a long time now – the ‘outstanding’ defender was said to be a target in January, and the Reds do need a defender.

Indeed, with Joel Matip likely on his way out this summer and Joe Gomez being used more and more as a full-back these days, the Reds do need further defensive reinforcements, especially if Amorim plans to use a back three if he gets the job too.

Of course, Inacio will know Amorim very well from his time at Sporting, and it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if he were to join his current manager in his next venture, and perhaps that could lead both men to Merseyside this summer.
