‘At Celtic’: Jason Cundy predicts whether Postecoglou could win Premier League title with Tottenham

Jason Cundy has predicted whether or not Ange Postecoglou could win the Premier League title with Tottenham Hotspur like he clinched the Scottish Premiership title with Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou left Celtic at the end of last season to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

Postecoglou was a massive success at Celtic. The 58-year-old led the Hoops to the Scottish Premiership title twice, the Scottish Cup once, and the Scottish League Cup on two occasions.

Tottenham are not going to win the Premier League title this season, but the North London club could end up fourth and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

What is remarkable about Spurs this season is that they are playing wonderful and attacking football and are getting results.

Under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, the football that Tottenham played was really dire. Postecoglou has brought joy and passion back into the team’s football. Wayne Rooney has been hugely impressed.

Former Tottenham player Jason Cundy does not think that the North London club will win a Premier League title because of the way that Postecoglou plays his football.

The talkSPORT pundit thinks that Tottenham, who have been urged to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney, need to be better defensively and not be as open as they usually are.

Tottenham have scored only six fewer goals than Manchester City in the Premier League this season, but they have conceded 45 times.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou sent brutal message

Cundy said about Postecoglou on talkSPORT (5:07 pm, April 12, 2024): “He has done brilliantly well, he has done brilliantly well, but there are still frailties.

“They concede too many goals, they concede too many goals. And, it’s risk and reward, the way that he plays.

“I don’t think he will win a Premier League title the way that he plays. I simply don’t think you can get away with it.

“I don’t think you can do that. It’s brave and it’s great to watch, but at the same time, so was Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle, so was Ossie Ardiles’s Spurs.

“There needs to be a point, there has to be a time when you change the style of play, the way you go into a game.

“It’s quite nice and refreshing. ‘It’s who we are, mate’. Literally, this is how we play football and this is how we are going to go about it.

“You might have been able to do that at Celtic, you are not doing that in the Premier League.”

Ange Postecoglou has transformed Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou has been very refreshing for Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs fans have always wanted exciting football, and they are getting that now.

Tottenham do not have as good and strong a squad as Liverpool and Manchester City. It is unlikely that Spurs will reach that level anytime soon.

For the time being, Tottenham’s main objective is to become a regular in the UEFA Champions League.

In my view, Spurs could achieve that by playing attacking and expansive football.
